Abstract

The work points to a reflection on the perception of translinguistic practices, considered here as a present and powerful instance in the literature on sign languages. From this premise, it considers the understanding of literature produced in sign languages ​​in the context of post-contemporaneity, encompassing a cross between hybrid artistic languages, in performance strategies and constituted by elements of intermediality. Our hypothesis is that many expressions of Literature in Sign Languages ​​are constituted, in the scenario outlined here, in a radically experimental way, by dissolving borders between artistic languages ​​and by presenting an aesthetic experience elaborated through translingual practices. In view of the perceived scenario, we highlight the fact that the body is placed as an aesthetic and ethical instrument of such practices. This perception leads us to the opportunity to think about the connections between literature and translanguage as questioning instances of linguistic and cultural prejudices. That is, based on this understanding, we think about how poems in sign languages ​​can present themselves as forms of decolonial resistance in the face of colonizing discourses and practices. We believe that reflection on the solidary relationship between literature and translanguage is essential in a critical linguistic education, perceiving literature in sign language here as a linguistic materiality to be thought about.
