REABILITAÇÃO COGNITIVA E MUSICOTERAPIA

As técnicas modernas de neuroimagem permitiram a documentação de alterações funcionais, estruturais e de padrões de conectividade no cérebro relacionadas com o fazer musical. Evidências científicas demonstram que a neuroplasticidade cerebral estimulada pelo treinamento musical pode produzir modificações em habilidades cognitivas. Estudos recentes nas neurociências, neuromusicologia e cognição musical tem dado destaque ao papel da música na reabilitação cognitiva. Os resultados oferecem um importante suporte para as pesquisas clínicas realizadas na área da musicoterapia. A principal abordagem que desenvolveu técnicas em que a música é utilizada como elemento mediador de respostas funcionais reorganizadas através de intervenções terapêuticas sistemáticas é a Musicoterapia Neurológica. O presente artigo busca apresentar alguns conceitos fundamentais resultantes de pesquisas que descrevem a utilização da música no treinamento e reabilitação de funções cognitivas como atenção, memória e funções executivas. A utilização da música na reabilitação cognitiva parece ser uma área promissora para a pesquisa em musicoterapia, principalmente valendo-se dos embasamentos teóricos nas áreas afins e das práticas resultantes dessa multidisciplinaridade.
