Internships carried out by students of the Music Therapy course at the Federal University of Minas Gerais in partnership with the Mental Health Reference Centers - CERSAM have been taking place since 2017 and, after their implementation, there was an increase in units served and the number of students and participating teachers related to these locations. The present study is an experience report of eleven music therapy sessions carried out in 2023 at CERSAM AD, a device aimed at serving people with chemical dependency, similar to Psychosocial Care Centers (CAPS), presenting, in addition to the report of the clinical experience, a discussion about the formation of the music therapist in a critical, attentive way and also pointing out difficulties related to open and rotating mental health care.
