Abstract

ABSTRACT

The admission of students with disabilities to universities has become increasingly frequent, however, it is still difficult to draw a complete picture of these students. This research presents an analysis and comparison between enrollments of students with disabilities at a State University of Paraná and data collected from the 2019 Higher Education Census (Censup), together with information obtained from the National Health Plan (PNS) of the same year. This is a quantitative and exploratory research, which considered the identification of enrollments of students with disabilities in 2019. The data was analyzed using Descriptive Statistics. It is concluded that the number of enrollments of students with disabilities at the public state university in Paraná and Brazil is still small, when compared to the rest of enrollments, but the number is growing when compared to previous years when it comes to enrolling these students. . It is suggested that better planning in collecting this data at the public university could be a way to strengthen affirmative and institutional policies, such as an increase in support projects for students with disabilities from the university's Center for Education and Human Rights, which is essential for guarantee the participation of these students in the public university.
