ABSTRACT
Purpose: in order to investigate the contributions of musical cognition regarding the procedural mechanisms that are involved in the process of vocal tuning in singing. Methods: the search for the articles was carried out by the following databases: Latin American Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS), Scientific Eletronic Library Online (SCIELO) and MEDLINE / PUBMED, selecting publications from the last years in the period from 2017 to 2021 through descriptors related to cognitive skills and detuning. Literature Review: the low vocal performance in singing may be the result of one or more procedural skills of musical cognition, which may be from the deficit in specific perception for music (amusia) or in other sensory-motor integration skills, memory and vocal production. Conclusion: the literature on this topic is still very scarce, especially at the national level. We emphasize the importance of having more Brazilian studies in order to understand these processes in our population in order to identify the demands and possible intervention strategies.
