Conflicts of Interest Policy

Authors, reviewers and editors must ensure the absence of conflicts of interest throughout the publication process. Conflicts of interest can arise in situations related to the nationality, religious or political beliefs, gender or other characteristics of the authors, as well as of a personal, commercial, political, academic or financial nature. When submitting a manuscript, authors must inform the editors of any possible conflict of interest by sending an e-mail (revista.vortex@unespar.edu.br) at the same time as the submission. Reviewers must maintain a neutral and impartial stance. If they identify any conflict of interest with the authors – whether institutional, as recent co-authors, or of a personal nature – they should inform the editors immediately.

Fees

We are part of a public, non-profit educational institution. Revista Vórtex does not charge article processing charges (APC) or submission fees, and the content is 100% free (Open Access). This is an open access journal, which means that all the content is available free of charge, at no cost to the user or their institution. Users are authorized to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search or link to the full texts of the two articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without the need to obtain prior authorization from the editor or author. This is in line with BOAI's definition of open access:
https://www.budapestopenaccessinitiative.org/boai10/

Digital Preservation

Revista Vórtex publishes its content on a UNESPAR server. The main access site is http://periodicos.unespar.edu.br/index.php/vortex/index (short URL: http://vortex.unespar.edu.br/). Once published, all papers are saved in PDF/A format to ensure the long-term preservation and archiving of electronic documents. In addition, after publication, all articles are distributed to our partner databases to ensure better visibility and longevity.

In addition, the entire journal collection will be preserved in the SciELO collection. For more information, go to: https://www.scielo.org/pt/sobre-o-scielo/preservacao-digital/. All papers approved for publication will receive a DOI number and will be deposited in all the databases linked to the journal: https://periodicos.unespar.edu.br/vortex/bases.

Revista Vórtex takes a broad approach to Intellectual Property, covering copyright, trademarks, patents and other legal mechanisms that protect published intellectual creations. The journal's Terms of Use set out the conditions under which readers and users can access, share and use the content available. Revista Vórtex encourages Authors to self-archive their accepted manuscripts, publishing them on personal blogs, institutional repositories and academic social media, as well as posting them on their personal social media, as long as the full citation to the journal's website version is included.

- All authors included in the submission of a paper are responsible for the content and must have participated sufficiently for their names to be listed in any publication.

Post-Publication Discussions

Vórtex Journal recognizes the importance of post-publication discussions for the advancement of academic discourse. Readers may submit formal comments through the “Letter to the Editor” section on the journal’s submission platform. The editors will conduct an initial screening to verify the relevance of the comments and determine whether to proceed with publication. The original authors of the articles being commented on will be invited to respond, but are not required to participate. If they do not respond or decline the invitation, the comment will be published on its own. If they accept, both the comment and the response—from the readers and the original authors, respectively—will be published. The publication will receive its own DOI, will be published in the “Correspondence” category, and will be indexed in all of the journal’s databases. Submissions must be based on evidence and/or data, contain no more than 1,000 words (using the journal’s template), be submitted no later than 2 years after the publication of the original article, and be written in a respectful manner that is relevant to the work being commented on.

Plagiarism, Self-Plagiarism and Retraction Policy.

Revista Vórtex considers plagiarism, self-plagiarism, recycling of texts, fabrication or falsification of data and images to be serious misconduct. Vórtex considers the use of other people's ideas without proper acknowledgement and reference to be plagiarism. The journal also condemns self-plagiarism or recycling of texts by the same author. This is when sections of the same text appear (usually without attribution) in more than one publication by the same author. The Editors adopt as a reference the criteria stipulated by COPE in “Text recycling guidelines for editors” (https://cope.onl/guidelines-text). The evaluation process is careful to identify such misconduct. In case of doubt, the Editors-in-Chief ask the authors for supporting data on the methodology and results, as well as any clarifications deemed necessary to support their decision-making. Finally, if any kind of plagiarism is detected, the work will be rejected.

Occasionally, when the journal's decision is contested, a committee of members of the Editorial Board and/or from outside the journal is set up to evaluate the work. In the event of evidence of misconduct, Revista Vórtex reserves the right to inform the authors' affiliation or funding institutions involved in the development of the research.

Revista Vórtex adopts the criteria of good editorial practice as standard in its publication process. Plagiarism – the use of other people's ideas without proper acknowledgement and reference – is not considered good practice and is therefore not accepted. Self-plagiarism or recycling texts by the same author are also condemned by the journal. This is when sections of the same text appear (usually without attribution) in more than one publication by the same author. The Editors adopt as a reference the criteria stipulated by COPE in “Text recycling guidelines for editors” (https://cope.onl/guidelines-text).

Occasionally, when the journal's decision is contested, a committee of members of the Editorial Board and/or members from outside the journal is set up for evaluation. Finally, if any kind of plagiarism and/or misconduct is detected and proven, the manuscript will be rejected. In this case(s), Revista Vórtex reserves the right to inform the authors' affiliation or funding institutions involved in the development of the research.

- If an article that has already been published is the subject of an allegation of misconduct, Revista Vórtex will carry out an investigation and, if found, the work should be retracted and remain indexed in the journal's database as retracted. The retraction documents the reason(s) for the error and must be duly referenced, through communication from the author or editor or other authorized agent, and published in the same edition as the original work, always observing the SciELO “Guide to the registration, marking and publication of retractions”: https://wp.scielo.org/wp-content/uploads/guia_retratacao.pdf

- Mistakes or errors, regardless of their nature or origin, which do not constitute misconduct, are corrected by means of an erratum. Revista Vórtex guarantees the timely publication of errata, corrections or retractions in accordance with SciELO's “Guide to the registration, marking and publication of errata”: https://wp.scielo.org/wp-content/uploads/guia_errata.pdf

Adoption of Similarity Checking Software

Vórtex Music Journal uses the “Plagius - Plagiarism Detector” software (https://www.plagius.com) to check for instances of similarity. Manuscripts with a similarity rate of more than 20% will be automatically reviewed by the editors before being sent for peer review. These percentages exclude references and direct quotations.

Software Adoption and Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Tools

Vórtex Music Journal uses the “Plagius - Plagiarism Detector” software (https://www.plagius.com) to check for instances of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tool usage. Manuscripts with more than 35% AI detection will be automatically reviewed by the editors before being sent for evaluation. These percentages exclude references and direct quotations. AI detection by Plagius is indicative and not conclusive, serving as a criterion for the editors’ analysis. The use of AI tools is permitted to support the writing and revision process. All such use must be explicitly declared in the submission via a message to the editors, indicating the tool used and describing its purpose. We do not accept the generation of original content, critical analyses, or conclusions through AI. Properly referenced direct quotations, even if formatted with indentation, may be disregarded in the similarity analysis upon justified request. Full responsibility for the content of the manuscript—including accuracy, correctness, and intellectual authorship—lies exclusively with the authors. Issues of Diversity, Equity, Equality and Accessibility

The editorial team of Revista Vórtex, as well as the authors who publish in the journal, must always comply with the Sex and Gender Equity in Research (SAGER) guidelines (https://www.equator-network.org/reporting-guidelines/sager-guidelines/). The SAGER guidelines comprise a set of guidelines for reporting sex and gender information in study design, data analysis, results and interpretation of findings. In addition, Revista Vórtex observes the policy of gender equity in the formation of its editorial board.

Revista Vórtex is publicly committed to promoting equality and accessibility in all its practices and environments. This commitment is aligned with the DEIA principles (Diversity, Equity, Equality and Accessibility) as established by the IDEIA Declaration (https://25.scielo.org/en/ideia-declaration/). Our mission includes ensuring a diverse editorial team in terms of gender, geographical origin, ethnicity and institutional affiliations. To guarantee impartiality in our editorial process, we adopt transparent measures that ensure fairness at all stages of evaluation. We recognize the difficulties faced by different individuals and communities, and are committed to offering personalized support when needed. In addition, we actively support initiatives aimed at gender equality and seek strategies that promote greater representation in the academic and scientific community. This includes support for women, members of the LGBTI+ community, native peoples and ethnic groups in situations of vulnerability and marginalization. Our position is in line with UN Sustainable Development Goal 5 (SDG 5), which seeks to achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls (https://sdgs.un.org/goals/goal5#targets_and_indicators). We are committed to promoting these values in all our activities and to contributing to a fairer, more inclusive and equal world.
