Abstract

This paper proposes a reflection on the expansion of endless techniques throughout the history of the trumpet, using as a guiding thread the interaction between the performer/composer and the performer/instrument builder. For this purpose, historical data on these relationships were collected, carried out through a bibliographic survey and interviews with current national and international soloists with the aim of demonstrating the trajectory of the development of the techniques involved in the trumpet.

Author Biographies

Adenilson Roberto Telles, Universidade Estadual de Campinas

Adenilson Roberto Telles holds a bachelor's degree from the Mozarteum College of São Paulo and a master's degree from the State University of Campinas, São Paulo. He studied at the Berlin Philharmonic Academy (2000-2002) and the Staatsoper Berlin Academy (2003-2004). He has worked as a teacher at the Eleazar de Carvalho Festival, the Maranhão Trumpet Festival, the Bragança Paulista Winter Festival, the LA Serena Brass Festival in Chile, and the Campos do Jordão Contemporary Music Festival. He is currently a trumpeter at Camerata Aberta, a teacher at the EMESP School in São Paulo, a HS Artist, coordinator of the Orquestrando project, and a doctoral student at the State University of Campinas.

Paulo adriano Ronqui, Universidade Estadual de Campinas

Paulo Adriano Ronqui is a Professor of Music at UNICAMP, holds a PhD in Music from the same institution, a Master's degree in Music from UNIRIO and a Bachelor's degree in Music from UNICAMP. He performed as a solo trumpet player with the Campinas Municipal Symphony Orchestra. As a soloist, he has performed in several countries such as the United States, Germany, Cuba, Peru, Japan, France, Italy and Brazil. He was Director of the Institute of Arts at Unicamp (2019/2023), and since 2010 he has worked as a trumpet and chamber music teacher and professor of the Postgraduate Program at that institution. He is a member of the ITG, and has served twice as vice-president of the ABT (2008/2009).
