Abstract

This research presents results of a reserach project that aims to analyze the errors by high shcool students in the State of Maranhão, in the test of the 15th edition of the Brazilian Public School Mathematics Olympiad-OBMEP. The datas present the results of the research referring to São Luís, capital of the State. For this analysis, an error analysis methodology was used. The subject analyzed was Combinatorial Analysis, covered in question 6 of the aforementioned test.  From the analysis of the solutions, the errors were separated by categories and thematic axes. The main results point to difficulty in reading and interpreting the statement of the question as well as a deficiency in the development of techniques observed to reach the expected result.
