Virginia Fonseca na CPI das bets: a dialogical analysis of a verb-visual charge

Abstract

All statement is a responsive and responsible act, situated in an unrepeatable here-and-now. Because of this, the subject is implicated in their linguistic acts mobilized within discursive genres, whose compositional, thematic, and stylistic aspects possess relative stability. Given this, the present study objective analyze how the social and verbo-visual dimensions manifest themselves in the discursive genre of cartoons about the Bets CPI, in the episode where the digital influencer Virgínia Fonseca acted as a witness. This study adopts a qualitative approach of a discursive nature, grounded in the assumptions of dialogism of the Bakhtin Circle and authors who discuss the topic. For this purpose, the corpus of this research is considered to be a cartoon produced by Nando Mota and published on the Brasil 247 Digital Portal on May 14, 2025. The focus of analysis falls on the constitutive aspects of the cartoon, considering the enunciative-discursive production of a social, verbal, and visual nature. Thus, the results indicate that the cartoon, on a social level, exposes conflicting values: the suspicion surrounding the Bets and the attempt to project an image of simplicity and innocence; while on a verbal-visual level, it highlights the mismatch between saying and showing, revealing the duality between the simple woman and the made-up woman.
