Violence circulates throughout Brazilian society and within the Higher Education Institutions walls as well. The scope review has sought to map the scientific productions which deal with the theme of violence in the context of higher education, by identifying the types of violence and also the population who suffers them. Searches were carried out on the following databases: Capes Portal; Virtual Health Library; The Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (Brazil); Scielo; Psycinfo; Scopus; Web of Science; ERIC. The search period took place between July 3rd and 4th, 2021, and was updated on March 23rd, 2022, with the descriptors violence against women; higher education (universities) and their correspondents in Portuguese and Spanish, and applying the Boolean operators AND and OR. As a result 12 works were found which address the theme. The health and health/education areas concentrate the largest number of scientific papers. The types of violence identified in the studies were: gender, physical aggression, sexual aggression, child molestation, family or domestic abuse, sexual harassment, sexual violence, intimidating attitudes, insults, forced sex, emotional and physical violence, moral and sexual harassment, denying accessibility to the student, abuse of power, abuse of authority (academic violence), and workplace violence. The population which suffers the most violence is in fact the female students, followed by the female professors and the female faculty employees.
Women in the university context are more subject to suffering violence, reproducing what happens in society.
