Abstract

This report seeks to present reflections on the lived experience when we teach the discipline Problem Solving and Mathematical Modeling allocated in the third year of the Licentiate Degree in Mathematics course. The classes were held in the period of social isolation due to the pandemic caused by COVID-19, remotely through the Teams platform. In the text, we describe a way of working that, starting from Modeling tasks, explores theoretical aspects of academic production in the field of Modeling, a practice already carried out in face-to-face classes and which was transposed to remote teaching, as well as the procedures for conducting these classes, the Modeling tasks performed and some reflections on how the practice was performed. With this, we were able to understand that the approach adopted in the discipline proved to be an important instrument to provide students with a vision and experience of the articulation between the theory produced by the academic community in the area of Mathematical Modeling in Mathematics Education and implementing modeling tasks. On the other hand, we present the anxieties and difficulties of teaching a discipline of Modeling in remote classes.
