Abstract

This article aims to investigate the process of objectification and subjectivation of transgender bodies through the analysis of discourses present in the field of audiovisualities, which, in turn, are shaped by the dispositif of transsexuality. To this end, we have defined the television series Veneno as the corpus for analysis, in which it is possible to observe the strategies of control and confrontation that materialize in the experiences of members of the transgender community. The analysis is based on the theoretical and methodological assumptions of Foucauldian discursive studies. The results show that transgender identity, in the media field, far from being a homogeneous or essentialized category, constitutes a dynamic process, permeated by tensions and challenges imposed by the discourses surrounding gender normativity.
