SPECIFIC USES OF DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY RESOURCES IN THE PHASES OF A MATHEMATICAL MODELING ACTIVITY

Considering the functions of use of digital technology resources ruled by the literature, in this paper we investigate how specific uses of digital technology resources were contemplated in the development phases of mathematical modeling activities. Therefore, we analyzed a sequence of mathematical modeling activities developed in the discipline of Mathematical Modeling in Teaching offered in the 5th period of a Graduation in Mathematics course. In the critical-reflective analysis we identify and describe how specific functions of use of digital technologies resources are used in the phases of a mathematical modeling activity. We concluded that not all specific uses of digital technology resources were contemplated in any phase that constitutes the development of a mathematical modeling activity. This happened because some of these uses have characteristics that link them naturally to one or more specific phases of a mathematical modeling activity, while other uses depend on the characteristic of the activity in development to be established. However, to a greater or lesser degree, all uses were present in the development of the analyzed activities.
