MODELING WITH YOUTH AND ADULTS FROM THE COUNTRYSIDE
IN SEARCH OF A PROBLEMATIZING AND LIBERATING EDUCATION

This paper aims at presenting Modeling as a possibility of problematizing and liberating education in Mathematics Education with Youth and Adults from rural areas, in which a qualitative research methodology is adopted. For this, Modeling activities carried out at Agrovila Campinas school, belonging to the Reunidas Settlement, located in the municipality of Promissão – SP, are presented. Such activities are part of the production of data for a doctoral research. Throughout the text, the idea of Mathematics Education with Youth and Adults from the countryside is discussed, as well as the denunciation of the neglect with the Education of Youth and Adults from rural areas and the announcement of Modeling as a possibility of problematizing and liberating education in this context. From the data analysis it was possible to evidence the relevance and receptivity of students towards Modeling. And also, highlight the need for access to school education for young people and adults who live in and from the countryside, in addition to the urgent return of public policies aimed at these subjects.
