Abstract

This article seeks to analyze the chromatic aspects of color in photography and painting, with two specific focuses: the place of color and the moment of color. The first part analyzes color not only as a chemical and physical construction but as belonging to a place, a space, which implies memory. The second part explores color in photography. To do this, the article examines various contexts through works by modern and contemporary artists, in which geometric art is observed as a language. In view of this, this article proposes a deepening of the study of the memory of color and form, relating to photography and painting as temporal media.

Author Biography

Jean Marcel Belmonte, Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais - UFMG

PhD candidate in Visual Arts at the School of Fine Arts of UFMG (2024), FAPEMIG Scholar, Master's in Arts from the State University of Minas Gerais, CAPES Scholar (2021), Specialist in Plastic Arts and Contemporary Art from the Guignard School (2018), Specialist in Contemporary Art from PUC Minas (2016), and Bachelor in Social Communication from the Faculty of Technology and Education of Maringá-PR (2008). He works in the field of Arts, with an emphasis on modern and contemporary art, focusing primarily on the following themes: color and form, time and space, the ephemeral, and memory. He is represented by the Orlando Lemos Gallery in Nova Lima, Minas Gerais, and by the Belizário Gallery in São Paulo. He was a guest professor in the Graduate Program in Art History at IEC PUC Minas. He is the author of the poetry book Uma esquina perdida no tempo, published by Caravana Grupo Editorial (2023).
