El debate político y la gestión educativa durante los gobiernos de Truman y Eisenhower

Después de la Segunda Guerra Mundial se produjo una gran transformación del orden internacional, que tuvo profundas consecuen-cias en las políticas internas de los Estados Unidos de América. Durante las presidencias de Harry Truman (Partido Demócrata) y Dwight Eisenhower (Partido Republicano), la educación se convirtió en uno de los temas más importantes de las agendas institucionales y de los debates político-legislativos. En este período, el discurso conservador se expandió ampliamente y condicionó las formas de gestionar los centros educativos, los métodos docentes y los contenidos programáticos. Los agentes sociales del conservaduris-mo se aliaron con numerosos representantes políticos – a nivel federal y estatal – para imponer su sistema de creencias en el sistema educativo, con el fin de garantizar la identidad nacional y la tradición sociocultural, criminalizando el pensamiento intelectual, el progresismo educativo y las corrientes ideológicas de izquierda.
