Resumo

Esta é a tradução do capítulo escrito por Randall Allsup, Philosophical perspectives of music education, publicado em 2010 no livro Critical issues in music education: contemporary theory and practice editado por Harold J. Abeles e Lori Custodero. O campo da filosofia da educação musical, que conta com produção significativa em língua inglesa, ainda tem pouca presença entre pesquisadores brasileiros. Allsup é docente na Teachers College da Columbia University em cursos vinculados aÌ€ criatividade e resolução de problemas, democracia e educação musical e filosofia da educação musical.

Biografia do Autor

Randall Allsup, Columbia University

Doutor em Música e Educação Musical (Ed.D.) pela Teachers College da Columbia University. Mestre em Música e Educação Musical e em Artes pela instituição. Atualmente é professor de música no Teachers College da Columbia University e no Arts College da Xiamen University (China). Publicou mais de cinquenta artigos em periódicos acadeÌ‚micos e lançou em 2016 o livro Remixing the classroom: toward an open philosophy of music education.

Margarete Arroyo, Universidade Estadual Paulista

Doutora e Mestre em Música – Educação Musical pelo Programa de Pós-Graduação em Música da UFRGS. Atuou como docente e pesquisadora na Universidade Federal de Uberlândia de 1993 a 2010. Foi secretária da Associação Brasileira de Educação Musical entre 2001 e 2003. É líder do Grupo de Pesquisa "Aprendizagens Musicais na Contemporaneidade" - APREMUS (CNPq). Desde agosto de 2010 atua como docente na UNESP, Instituto de Artes, Curso de Graduação em Música e Programa de Pós-Graduação em Música.

Renato de Carvalho Cardoso, Universidade Estadual Paulista

Doutorando em música pelo PPG em Música do Instituto de Artes da UNESP. Mestre em Música e Bacharel em música: habilitação em violão pela mesma instituição. Formado em guitarra elétrica pela Universidade Livre de Música (ULM-SP). Apresenta-se em recitais solo e em grupo de câmara, e é compositor e arranjador do grupo Espírito do Tempo. Áreas de interesse: Performance musical; Música Antiga; Interpretação musical do barroco; Filosofia da música; Pensamento complexo; Arte como forma de conhecimento; Arte-educação; Educação musical.
