Reflections on the importance of human formation in educational processes

Abstract

This work aims to systematize and deepen the reflections developed in the course "Education and Human Formation," taken within a Master's program in Education, understanding its contribution to the foundation of teacher education. The course set out to problematize the concept of human formation from an interdisciplinary perspective, articulating the fields of philosophy, history, and anthropology. Throughout the course, discussions centered on how formation processes are shaped in contemporary society, establishing critical connections between education, politics, culture, and human rights. The analysis revealed that the course provides a crucial theoretical synthesis, and the results demonstrate that it empowers the future master to ground their practice in ethical ideals of holistic formation and to contextualize it critically. It is concluded, therefore, that the central relevance of the course lies precisely in highlighting the inseparability between education and human formation, arguing that this relationship must be the foundation of any meaningful educational practice, including and especially in teacher training.
