Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the impact of basic education teachers' interaction with students' medical reports, in their continuing education process, on their conceptions and practices related to school inclusion. A study was carried out with a convenience sample of 24 primary and secondary school teachers from the city of Belo Horizonte - MG and the surrounding region. A phenomenological epistemological bias was used to guide the research. The methodology used was mixed, with online questionnaires and a focus group as the data collection instruments. Content analysis from the perspective of Bardin (2011) was used for the analysis and the non-parametric Wilcoxon test was applied. The results indicated positive changes in teachers' understanding of the medical report after the intervention. In addition, most of the participants reported that the experience helped to improve their teaching practices from the perspective of inclusive education. The conclusion is that interaction with medical knowledge can bring benefits to teachers' work, provided that it is properly integrated with continuing education.
