Abstract: This work aims to identify the underlying mechanisms of the Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder that affect the educational development of children. The study was carried out as an Integrative Literature Review and utilized a sample period of 20 years, between 2004 and 2024, as criteria for the inclusion of the articles in the LILACS (Literatura Latino-Americana e do Caribe em Ciências da Saúde) database, US National Library of Medicine, Índice Bibliográfico Español de Ciencias de la Salud, Scientific Electronic Library Online. The descriptors "ADHD", "inclusion" and "children" werethen crossreferenced in an attempt to understand the relationship between educational inclusion and ADHD. Duplicate articles and those that did not address the main issue were excluded. After the analysisof the selected articles, it
was found that work overload and the need for training are the main underlyingmechanisms of ADHD that jeopardise children's educational development. There is an urgent need for training and support for education professionals in order to deal with the needs of students with ADHD,emphasising the importance
of strategies that go beyond pharmacological approaches.
