Abstract

This study describes the integration of photography into Project-Based Learning (PBL) as a strategy to foster collaboration, critical thinking, and student agency. The qualitative research, presented as an experience report, was conducted in a full-time high school in Maceió, Brazil, within the scope of the Communication Laboratory. Data analysis, based on participant observation and content analysis, revealed that the project encouraged a more critical and reflective perspective on the territory, strengthening students' engagement and their role within the community. The results highlighted the development of technical, communication, and socio-emotional skills, as well as a redefinition of students' perceptions of their neighborhood, promoting the appreciation of its cultural and social aspects.
