The structural changes in Brazilian high school education with the implementation of the High School Reform, Law 13.415/2017, aim to establish guidelines for the content and skills to be developed by students. Based on this, the objective was to analyze the perception of high school Biology teachers in Imperatriz - MA about the curricular reforms that occurred with the implementation of the New High School. The study was based on the collection of data about curricular flexibility, workload, interdisciplinarity, the inclusion of contemporary and technological themes and evaluation practices, with the application of a structured questionnaire with 10 objective questions to teachers. 29 questionnaires were applied to teachers from 20 schools, 15 public state schools, 01 Federal Institute of Maranhão, 01 State Institute of Maranhão and 03 private schools. All teachers interviewed have a degree in Science with a habilitation in Biology or Biological Sciences and have been teaching for between 3 and 24 years, demonstrating a relatively long time and expertise in the subject. When asked about the reform of the new high school and its impact on the teaching of Biology, 86% said it was unfavorable or very unfavorable. In addition, 76% mentioned that the reduction in workload was significant, compromising the quality of teaching and learning. Therefore, the results indicate that the implementation of the High School Reform significantly changed the teaching of Biology in schools in Imperatriz - MA, since the majority of the interviewees showed an unfavorable view of the Reform, highlighting challenges such as the reduction in workload, difficulties in interdisciplinarity and the lack of adequate continuing education.
