Abstract

In this article, we analyze the narratives of the manga Kasutoro Shiki, drawn and written by Shintaro Kago, aiming to understand how the framing, through the artist's experiments with the empty spaces of the page, breaks the coherence between characters and events, thereby deforming the space of representation and the bodies within it. To achieve this, we rely on studies focused on the framing and language of comics by Jacques Aumont, Thierry Groensteen, Scott McCloud, and Barbara Postema, as well as texts by Georges Bataille, Gilles Deleuze, and Wolfgang Kayser, to understand how Shintaro Kago's narratives are based on processes of heterogeneity, deterritorialization, and disorientation of images.
