ANTI-CAPITALIST FEMINISMS: STRIDENT RESPONSES
Abstract: The Chilean collective LASTESIS and the performance Un violador en tu camino are used as a case study of the intersection between feminism, anti-capitalism, and the arts. The research employed a bibliographic survey of anti-capitalist feminist production and of scholars who study LASTESIS, while also engaging in dialogue with art collectives and critics in the field. The performance was examined through the triad: boisterous, sharp, and point of expression – a strident Latin American response that transforms feminist theory into embodied and disobedient street activism. By relocating art and theory into the streets, the results indicate that the performance is embedded in a Latin American theoretical-practical-artistic trajectory, strengthened by media-driven transnationalization through social networks.
