Enfoques teóricos sobre el compromiso de las universidades con la sociedad: contextualización y desarrollo

Resumen

Se ha exigido cada vez más a las universidades que vayan más allá de las misiones de docencia e investigación y se comprometan con la sociedad. Siguiendo este movimiento, hay una evolución de los modelos teóricos. Cada modelo trae consigo el contexto de su creación, tanto en términos de localidad como de temporalidad, ya que los debates sobre el compromiso de la universidad con la sociedad están en constante evolución. Este artículo analiza la evolución de la comprensión del compromiso de la universidad con la sociedad a partir de cuatro modelos, teniendo en cuenta sus contextos geográficos y temporales. Los modelos analizados son: Entrepreneurial University (Clark, 1998; Etzkowitz, 1983), Civic University (Goddard et al., 2016), Responsible University (Sørensen et al., 2019) y New Flagship University (Douglass, 2016a). Se señalan aspectos comunes, como la importancia de comprometerse con la economía local / regional, pero está claro que cada modelo aborda el compromiso con la sociedad de una manera diferente.
