Cultural wars on YouTube: reflections on the University

This research aims to investigate YouTube videos that mention the role of the university from the perspective of six Brazilian content creators’ channels, both from the left and the right wings, in order to identify different meanings and their relationship with the concept and debate of cultural wars. Regarding the theoretical and methodological procedures, connections were established between the communication interface (Braga, 2001) and the cultural wars (Hunter, 1999; Hartman, 2019), which were further explored and examined through a study applied to YouTube using Social Network Analysis. For data collection, the YouTube Data Tools were used, and the data were processed through the Gephi software for network data visualization and word cloud generation. The analysis was developed based on these results, comparing the meanings attributed to the university in right-wing and left-wing channels and their relations with the cultural wars.
