This article analyzes Agnès Varda's bricolage through the seams between the life and work of Jacques Demy in the feature film Jacquot de Nantes (1991). It is a discussion of memory as a creative activity in constructing a narrative of identity in cinema. For this study, the filmmakers’ trajectories will be considered, seeking connections between their biographies and filmographies to interpret how they delve into the past in creating a representation of themselves. In this process, the director Agnès Varda's cinematic style is highlighted, considering her distinctive marks in her works and the intersection of her cine-writing with the essay as a way of making cinema. In Jacquot de Nantes, the combination of all of Agnès Varda's stylistic elements creates an audiovisual bricolage that reflects on the passage of time and what remains with the subject, like a patchwork quilt made from seams between archives, enactments, colors, voices and music.
