The present work aims to share the results of the research “Dance beyond gender: a look at transsexuality in dance” approved in public notice nº 15/2022 of the Institutional Program for Scientific Initiation Scholarships (PIBIC), with support and funding from the IFG from CNPQ. The investigation sought to map academic productions (Brazilian/Portuguese) that relate to the transgender universe in dance. The study is based on an exploratory-descriptive qualitative approach and is structured as a bibliographic review research. based on readings about dance and gender, we seek to reveal academic traces about the theme, passing through sociocultural aspects that touch on the construction of research and knowledge about the identity of transgender bodies in dance and their different forms of existence and subsistence in the artistic field. Walking alongside authors such as ROUGHGARDEN (2005), SCOTT (1995), SEGATO (2012), TONELLI (2012) among others, this article seeks to contribute to the debates about transgenderism and dance, relating to other research and registering gaps and potentials unveiled on the journey.
