Abstract

This article aims to share, reflect and report on the methodological approach adopted for the creation of a collective musical improvisation, inspired by the painting “The Fisherman” by Tarsila do Amaral and the concepts of free improvisation by Machado (2014 and 2018). The creative process was conducted remotely by the author during the COVID-19 pandemic, in collaboration with the Reference Group “Camerata de Violões de Araçatuba” of Projeto Guri, through three meetings held through the Zoom web conferencing platform. The resulting work was incorporated into the “Tarsila do Amaral Suite”, a new piece in 5 movements, created by the group in celebration of the centenary of the Modern Art Week of 1922. The free improvisation was recorded on video by the participants and edited in DaVinci Resolve software, while editing and mixing audio tracks were performed in Reaper software, with two specialized tracks in the Ambisonic domain through the Ambisonic StereoEncoder and BinauralDecoder plug-ins from the Institute of Electronic Music and Acoustics (IEM Plug-in Suite).
