Summary: This article discusses, based on an experience in the classroom during the mandatory supervised internship of the Theater Degree program, the reflections generated on racism and LGBTphobia, with a focus on school safety and preventive education in public schools. The work is organized into two parts: in the first, I present a case study, and in the second, I contextualize the debates that emerged, reflecting on the role of teachers in mediating the fight against racism and LGBTphobia. Additionally, I discuss how educational institutions can be held accountable for fulfilling their responsibilities in this process, so that the school environment becomes effective for learning and well-being.
