This investigation aims to examine the association between attitudes towards money and materialistic behavior in primary education teachers. A sample of 153 participants of both sexes, with an average age of 42.9 years, residing in four regions of the state of Goiás, was used. Attitudes towards money were assessed using a scale composed of 17 items and four dimensions (happiness, power, respect, and negative influence). To assess materialism, a materialism scale composed of 10 items reflecting different materialistic values was used. The analyses included descriptive analyses of independent measures and Pearson's correlation to explore the data and possible associations between variables. The results showed significant correlations and differences by ethnicity and residence of the teachers. Money was valued as a symbol of happiness, power, and respect, with a high association between these values and materialism, as well as a specific profile in the case of teachers from the city of Cavalcante-GO, regarding the dimensions of power and respect.
