This study aims to explore the continuing education opportunities available to the Educational Affairs Technicians (TAEs) at the Federal Institute of Paraíba (IFPB), developed within the framework of the National People Development Policy (PNDP). It focuses on the professional roles and responsibilities these technicians fulfill within the institution. The research, using a qualitative approach, involved document analysis, consultation with the Unified Public Administration System (SUAP), as well as questionnaires administered to ten TAEs working in the Institution’s Pedagogical Coordination and at the IFPB Rectory. A semi-structured interview was also conducted with the manager overseeing these professionals. Data analysis was performed using content analysis techniques. The results reveal the broad range of tasks assigned to TAEs, even though Resolution No. 50/2021 of the Superior Council (CONSUPER/IFPB) specifies their role in management and pedagogical support activities, as well as coordination and advisory duties for both teaching staff and students in areas of teaching, research, and extension services. The study finds that while the IFPB’s People Development Plan (PDP) aims to build skills and identify training needs, there is still a need for greater engagement and more comprehensive action to support TAEs. The institution must invest in promoting discussions around this policy (PNDP) and its implementation. To foster discussion and enhance continuing education, the TAEs have offered suggestions to improve the training programs available at IFPB. These recommendations include courses specifically tailored to the responsibilities of their planning roles, as well as those related to the implementation of training within the PDP framework.
