Abstract

The aim of the article presented here is to map scientific production on the use of mathematical games in the teaching and learning of mathematics in basic education. To structure it, we chose to analyze the works published in the Catalogue of Theses and Dissertations of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel, covering research defended between 2013 and 2023, using the search terms "Mathematical games in Basic Education" and "Mathematical games in Basic Education". For data analysis, Laurence Bardin's Content Analysis was used, which made it possible to highlight seven Categories of Analysis. The results show that the students, even with their idiosyncrasies, were more engaged in the classes due to the games used. The research also shows that the playful approach to teaching mathematics helped the students' learning. In conclusion, it is possible to emphasize the importance of playfulness in teaching the subject and also the lack of research that addresses the objective of this article.
