O pensamento educacional de Anísio Teixeira: democracia e a escola

This article, with a qualitative-exploratory approach, analyzed the democratic foundations of education, democracy, school and the educational system based on readings, discussions and studies by and about Anísio Teixeira. The study presented Anísio Teixeira, life and work; analyzed the educational system from the perspective of Anísio Teixeira, who presented us with a picture of education after the Brazilian Constitution of 1946 in the work Educação é um Direito (1968); and ends with an analysis of the democratic foundations of contemporary education and the legacy left by Anísio Teixeira. The analysis highlighted the relevance of the author's thinking, based on his foundations for a democratic education, aiming at autonomy, emancipation, unity and possible structuring of an educational system, breaking with the dualisms that have marked and still mark our society. Thus, it contributes to the implementation of a democratic education, capable of training agents capable of transforming the structure of the educational system, thinking about the predominant educational models and raising awareness of the need for quality education, no longer a privilege and guaranteed to all actors. Contrary to what has been experienced in the Brazilian context in recent years and which is willing to be reconstituted in this current political context.
