For the effectiveness of the teaching-learning process, evaluation is necessary and plays an important role in conceptualizing student development. For a fair assessment that contemplates both the learning objectives and the students' potential, it is necessary to use several instruments. This paper presents a survey carried out with teachers from different Brazilian locations on the subject of evaluation and their perceptions about the use of rubrics as an instrument of this process. The aim of this study is to identify how teachers perceive the use of rubrics as a strategy for summative assessment. After analysis and discussion, it is evident that the teachers' perception describes many benefits reflected when the rubrics are used within the evaluation process.
