This study aims to analyze the approach to non-conventional food plants (UFP) in Biology textbooks, within the scope of Botany, used in state schools in Vitória da Conquista-BA. After surveying and choosing the material, the textbooks were subjected to a general analysis in relation to the contents (theoretical-methodological aspects, visual resources, activities: pedagogical-methodological aspects and evaluation), which was evaluated through a semantic scale. Through the analysis of the results, it was possible to verify that the teaching of UFP in the collections used in schools in the city of Vitória da Conquista is not a reality. In this sense, regarding the analyzed criteria, even though there is a contextualization in certain excerpts of some collections, based on the concepts of the semantic scale, we can classify in general as unsatisfactory, because despite not being presented in an adequate way, there is potential for adjustments making it applicable in the context of UFP. As textbooks should not be the only resource for developing classes, it is important that teachers are constantly updated to cover these missing contents.
