This article seeks to understand the aspects that permeated the Sociology discipline in a remote teaching context, as well as to reflect on the place that the discipline has occupied (or not) within the high school curriculum over the years. The subjects of the educational process are taken as the basis and main focus of this investigation, thus, this qualitative research is based both on the experience as a scholarship holder of the teaching initiation program, and on data collection through a questionnaire applied to students via Google Forms, in order to establish a broader view of the situation. Through this investigation, it was possible to conclude that the situation in question not only rekindled old educational challenges, but also generated new ones, making access to education even more difficult for more vulnerable students. However, it is also worth mentioning that even in a challenging reality, such as remote teaching, new perspectives emerged along with digital tools and platforms, which proved capable of streamlining the teaching process. Furthermore, this work proves to be fundamental, since there has never before been a need to implement non-face-to-face teaching due to issues similar to those faced in 2020, in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. Therefore, as it is a totally atypical event, it is the role of science to investigate the implications of this reality, as well as to shed light on new paths.
