his study aims to analyze the progression of students enrolled between 2012 and 2016 in the higher education course in Agroecology Technology, offered by the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Rio Grande do Norte – Ipanguaçu Campus, with an emphasis on the formative journey of students and the challenges faced throughout their academic trajectory. The research adopts a qualitative and quantitative approach, of an exploratory and descriptive nature, based on data obtained from the institution's Academic Secretariat. The results indicate that the female group shows greater representation in the course, standing out in enrollment and graduation rates, but also in dropout cases, when compared to the male group. The phenomenon of dropout, far from being an isolated problem in the region or the analyzed course, reflects a national trend influenced by multiple factors, including socioeconomic, personal, and structural issues. The data analysis allowed for the identification of patterns in the profile of graduates, contributing to the understanding of the challenges faced in academic training and enabling the proposal of strategies to improve teaching and the completion of the Agroecology Technology course.
