Technological archaeology as a research methodology in printmaking

Abstract

The article discusses the concept of printmaking technological archaeology as a methodological process in research and teaching. It examines the origins of a concept that has become part of the academic and artistic activities at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto (FBAUP), highlighting the fact that certain graphic processes are not introduced into the workshop space, either due to systematic and historical erasure, or due to a lack of willingness to make correlations with processes used in a commercial, industrial and/or artisanal way, to the detriment of a dogmatic tradition that still exists in the arts.

Graciela Machado é Professora Associada da Faculdade de Belas Artes da Universidade do Porto (FBAUP) e pesquisadora integrada do Instituto de Investigação em Arte, Design e Sociedade (i2ADS). Formou-se em Pintura em Belas Artes (FBAUP) e fez mestrado em Gravura na Slade School of Fine Art de Londres. É Doutora em Desenho pela Universidade do País Basco, na Espanha, CV Ciência Vitae

Paula Almozara, Pesquisadora independente

Paula Almozara é artista visual, professora e pesquisadora. Realizou Pós-Doutoramento pela Faculdade de Belas-Artes da Universidade do Porto (PT) com apoio da Fapesp – Bolsa de Pesquisa no Exterior – BPE processo no. 2021/13582-4. Doutora em Educação e Mestre em Artes pela Unicamp.
