O fotógrafo Pierre Verger e o cancionista Gilberto Gil figuram no Brasil como portadores de determinada postura com relação a herança africana no país. O objetivo deste trabalho é investigar elementos nas trajetórias de ambos que ajudem a explicar os laços de filiação entre um e outro e uma determinada perspectiva estética sobre a presença negra na Bahia, em particular na cidade de Salvador.
