Abstract

This essay contemplates my productions as a fat feminist activist artist, as well as a series of works produced between 1993 and 2023. Since 1993, my artwork has focused on the self-representation of my fat body, expanding to other bodies of fat women, women in general and diversities. The interest in dissident and abject bodies, based on my own experience in the world, brings about series of images and actions that interconnect with one another, producing a cartography where discourses and practices intend to be affirmative actions. The languages used in the construction of the works also changes, seeking to enhance the series produced. There are photographs, collages, installations, performances, videos, photoperformances, among others. The propositions are meant to lead us towards reflections on our contemporary social representations, and on whatever they create in our imaginations. Above all, the propositions intend to offer new images that decolonize the contaminated way we look at constructed and widely disseminated images of our objectified bodies.
