Abstract

This is an article that seeks to reflect on the meditative practices associated with the theme of preparing actors/dancers, henceforth called stage and body artists. We seek to establish a dialogue here with the center of the master's research that we have recently developed, whose dissertation is entitled: The work of the actress-dancer on herself: Shivam Yoga as a training proposal, in the Graduate Program in Performing Arts of UFSJ. The lines that follow are anchored in the texts by Cassiano Quilici, The Concept of “Cultivation” and the Actor-Performer Formation Processes. In these writings, Quilici brings up questions that concern the training and formation of the artist of the scene, having a sharper look at internal issues, such as meditation, self-knowledge and self-perception, among others. We also seek to establish a dialogue with thinkers and directors of contemporary Western theater art such as Stanislavski, Grotowski and Barba, and with Eastern contemporary art such as the Japanese actor Yoshi Oida. The interest in this topic, and in the establishment of actions among the aforementioned authors, is based on the aforementioned master's research that uses the practices of yoga and meditation in the daily training of the performer of the scene, as we believe that such a junction is quite relevant and fruitful. and entirely possible.
