Este artigo tem por objetivo resumir as definições de arte desenvolvidas, ao
longo da história, nas várias correntes estéticas que visaram definir a arte como umaatividade cultural dentre outras, buscando seu lugar de destaque na sociedade. Ascomparações entre as definições visam explorar as muitas formas de compreender ofenômeno artístico, empreendidas por pensadores de muitas áreas do conhecimento,especialmente da Filosofia da Arte.
