Abstract

This paper adopts a qualitative and reflective approach, examining the perspectives of renowned authors such as Theodore W. Schultz, John W. Mellor, and Robert Chambers. These experts agree on the importance of agriculture for economic development and poverty reduction, but their emphases vary, ranging from economic efficiency to social inclusion and the appreciation of local knowledge. Additionally, contemporary authors' critiques of the conventional model and the implications of strategies promoted by international organizations are presented.
