El ascenso ficcional de la figura femenina: biografía, historia nacional y historia de las mujeres em “The Rising of Bella Casey”, por Mary Morrissy

Este artículo tiene como objetivo analizar el ascenso ficticio de Isabella Casey (1866-1918), hermana del dramaturgo irlandés Seán O'Casey (1880-1964) en la novela The Rising of Bella Casey (2013), de la autora irlandesa Mary Morrissy. La obra se explora como una biografía ficticia que pretende llenar los huecos de la biografía de Isabella que dejó Seán O’Casey en sus Autobiografías (1939-1952). La novela devuelve la agencia a Isabella y la eleva a la posición destacada que desea el personaje. Con este fin, eventos históricos como el Alzamiento de Pascua de 1916 en Dublín y la Primera Guerra Mundial pierden importancia en relación con la historia de vida de Isabella, revelando perspectivas divergentes e historias alternativas. Primero se analiza la reinserción de Isabella Casey en el relato realizado en The Rising, y luego el relato alternativo propuesto por la novela, que cuestiona la identidad nacional irlandesa impuesta por el Estado Libre Irlandés (1922-1937).
