Abstract

What is the relationship and the points of contact between Art and Magic? What is common to the artist and the shaman? The genealogy of the concept of magic and art are confronted by various points of view from anthropology and psychology to esoterism to investigate the possibility of magical art today and to what extent all art can be understood as a kind of magic.

Author Biography

Nadam Guerra, Instituto de Artes UERJ

Visual Artist. Born in Rio de Janeiro in 1977. Bachelor of Performing Arts (UniRio, 2001). Master and Doctor of Arts ay PPGARTES UERJ 2013 and 2019. The doctoral thesis was called “How to become a magician artist". Adjunct Professor at the Institute of Arts of UERJ and at EAV Parque Lage.

He participated in almost a hundred exhibitions in Brazil and abroad. He has works in the MAM RJ and MAR collections. He has curated art events such as the performance festivals V :: E :: R and Corpos Críticas. He has coordinated the Artistic Residency program at Ecovila Terra UNA since 2008.
