This article proposes a reflection on the word as a device for activating imagination in dance creation practices. Language is understood as an event that mobilizes perception, imagination, and action. Situated at the meeting point of dance, somatic approaches, and philosophy, the text explores the notion of embodied imagination, from which the word, in its verbal or written expression, emerges as imagistic material and a sensitive operator in pedagogical and artistic practices in dance. The argument develops from a practice-led research project conducted within a master’s degree completed in 2021, reconfigured in this article in light of a rearticulation of the relationships between word, body, and imagination.
