This article reflects and discusses body preparation for dance improvisation from two processes in urban contexts. Based on the thinking of Hubert Godard (2010) and Steve Paxton (2022), it presents somatic approaches as one of the ways to prepare dancer-improviser body in such contexts by the work of Luciana Bortoletto, by detailing and reflecting on procedures developed by Bortoletto in the workshop given at the meetin “I Temporal”, in Uberlândia/2012, in the Federal University. It relates that artistic-pedagogical event in the city of Minas Gerais to the artistic creation “Little dance to grow up in the gaps”, developed by … Avoa! Núcleo Artístico”, in São Paulo / 2014-15, whose professional dance creation was carried out in the city financed by the Lei de Fomento à Dança. It presents how body preparation influenced poetic choices, focused on the performance of interpreter-improvisers in the capital of São Paulo. It compares and discusses both contexts from the point of view of body preparation, which constitutes a series of procedures that stimulate, process and operate preliminary preparatory actions, which give life and poetic meaning to dance, mainly in those reflected dance improvisation contexts carried out in urban contexts and reflected in this article
