Abstract

Neuroscience is the area of science dedicated to the study of cognitive processes and their relationships with the body and the environment. Progress in understanding mental functioning has largely occurred through the development of body security and monitoring technologies, including biosensors. This paper aims to investigate the use of biosensors in the poetic process in Contemporary Art, based on art, neuroscience and technology. Therefore, it begins with the definition of neuroscience followed by a contextualization in which I list some moments, from different historical periods, that present the development and applications of biosensors in the field of Visual Arts. The chosen examples served to help the elaboration and presentation of the authorial poetic process, considering the biosensors as a body monitoring resource in the conception of a visuality that reveals the embodied mind. The methodology involved bibliographical research associated with the poetic approach, using as conceptual support, especially, the writings of Vilayanur S. Ramachandran (2014) and Hosana Celeste Oliveira (2019).
