Abstract

This is an experience report on planning and carrying out an extension project on correct hand washing with children at a municipal school, located in the Jardim Querido neighborhood, in the Municipality of Porto Nacional, Tocantins. The activities were carried out by comparing correct and incorrect hand hygiene. Such educational activities were carried out taking into account the children's prior knowledge of the knowledge covered and the importance of learning this topic. Thus, through the mechanisms used, the importance of correct hand hygiene in everyday life was understood, as it is possible to avoid various conditions that can be transmitted by fomites. It was concluded that the educational activities that were carried out with the students are extremely important for the children's student development. They improve the course of change in children's health, in order to prevent future complications arising from diseases acquired through contact with microorganisms on their hands. This results in a change not only in the well-being of the children, but also in those around them, who receive this knowledge from them, since they are propagators of knowledge.
